I was never too fond of General tires from the lousy experience that I had in the past. So, I almost refused delivery on my 2007 F-150 three years ago when it came with 255/70-17 General Ameritrac TR tires. However, this has been a great tire. I’m just short of 60,000 miles and there still remains 4/32-5/32 of tread left. These tires have remained quiet all the way through. I found that, despite wet and snow coverd roads, traction and handling have been more than acceptable for my type of driving. These tires have worn completley flat with no cupping. All I did was keep the tires rotated front to rear and cross rotated every other time. I rotated tires anyware from 6500 to 10,000 mile intervals. Tire pressure was kept at 44psi front and 40psi rear. I’m currently looking to replace this tire, and I’m finding that this tire is being competively priced if not lower than competing brands including the Chinese brands(which I can’t understand why anybody in their right mind would buy). Looks like my next set of tires will be General Ameritrac TR.
